International Campus expands with a new building and 344 THE FIZZ apartments in Freiburg

In August 2021, Germany’s tenth THE FIZZ will be opening in Freiburg im Breisgau. Inter­na­tional Campus GmbH (IC), which specia­lises in tempo­rary housing concepts for students and profes­sio­nals, is construc­ting a new building with 344 student apart­ments right in the centre, at Habsburger Straße 132. It is the brand’s second building in the popular southern German univer­sity city, along­side THE FIZZ Zähringen with 149 apart­ments. Modern flats with high-quality furnis­hings, measu­ring between 18 and 58 m², are taking shape in two parts of the building on a gross floor area of around 15,000 m². 12 of these apart­ments benefit from reduced rental prices. With the seven-storey develo­p­ment at the edge of the block, IC is closing one of the last vacant lots in this central location. The division of the façade into several sections and the striking roof shape allow the building to blend in harmo­niously with its surroun­dings. The four-storey atrium building on the inside of the block comple­ments the selec­tion of room types to meet the diffe­rent requi­re­ments of the students.

“We want to expand further with THE FIZZ, especi­ally in Germany, Austria and the Nether­lands. Even during the pandemic, our student apart­ment buildings are experi­en­cing strong demand and we are confi­dent that as the vacci­na­tion rate increases, the general situa­tion for students will also return to normal”, says Michael Stapf, Chief Invest­ment Officer at IC.

All apart­ments at THE FIZZ feature a private bathroom, a modern kitchenette and internet. Students can enjoy an active housing commu­nity led by the house managers, as well as many common areas for cooking, studying, playing and relaxing, along with a range of other services. Over 70 parking spaces are available to tenants in the under­ground car park, and there is space for up to 350 bicycles in a roofed outdoor area.

Thanks to the central location, Freiburg Univer­sity, various shopping facili­ties and Münster­platz are only a stone’s throw away. The central station is within walking distance.

THE FIZZ can also be found in other German cities, namely Aachen, Berlin, Bremen, Darmstadt, Frank­furt am Main, Hamburg, Hanover and Munich. In addition, IC operates two houses for students in Vienna and one in Prague.
